Glenn Roye Mulholland

April 20, 1931 — September 7, 2014

Glenn Roye Mulholland, 83, of North Platte, NE, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island, NE. Glenn was born April 20, 1931, to Roye Artice and Mary Mulholland in Lampasas, TX. He spent his childhood in Austin, TX and in the Hill Country northwest of Austin. The family then followed Defense Construction during the war years, returning to Austin in 1943 where Glenn attended school and was an apprentice newspaper pressman. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 then met Donna Mae Schlepp. They were married in Greeley, CO in 1952. Glenn later served in Korea during the Korean War. Upon his return to the states, Glenn was assigned to Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. He was a Bomb Navigator Technician, working on B-47 aircraft's. Glenn was later assigned to be a Ballistic Missile Analysis on the Atlas Missile Program then finished his career as a Bomb Navigator Technician, working on B-52's. After a 20 year career, Glenn retired from the Air Force in 1970 with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Following his retirement, the family moved to North Platte where he was a partner, then owner, of Al's Gun and Reel. Glenn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder. He was also a devoted member of Platte Valley Lodge #32 AF&AM. Glenn served as Master in 2003, Secretary from 2004 to the present, was appointed Deputy Custodian and served in that position for a good number of years. He was also president of the North Platte Temple Craft and a member of the North Platte York Rite, Tehmah Shrine Temple and the Hastings Scottish Rite where he was bestowed the KKCH. In his spare time, Glenn restored antique cars. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Donna, and daughter, Linda Sanders, both of Grand Island; a son, Steven (Vicki) Mulholland, of Tecumseh, NE; five grandchildren, Jessica and Zach Sanders, Michael (Sherry) Mulholland, Marissa (Mark) James and Megan Buckley; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Nancy Burson, of Austin, TX; a brother, Richard Mulholland, of Fort Worth, TX; and other family. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Roye and Mary, and stepmother, Olga Mulholland; and a half brother. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Polly Deppen Williams officiating. Inurnment with Masonic Rites and full military honors will be 1:30 p.m. on October 2, 2014, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.
