George Alan Karis, of South Carolina, formerly of North Platte, died Thursday, November 23, 2017, in Anderson, South Carolina.
George was born October 3, 1928, to James and Eva Karis at North Platte. He grew up in North Platte and the family attended Episcopal Church of Our Savior. After his schooling, George enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until 1947. Following his discharge he returned to North Platte.
George was united in marriage to Annette Alice Spink. He later started a poly tech service in 1968 in South Carolina and eventually retired in '92.
George is survived by his wife, Annette; son, John (Barbara) Karis, of Matthews, North Carolina; daughter, Lisa (Dick) Brandon, of Belton, South Carolina; sister, Louise Matson, of Lincoln, Nebraska; as well as other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eva; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Edith Karis; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Eddie Rector, Jr.
Cremation was chosen. Graveside service with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018, in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Gary Smith officiating. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Arrangements are with Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore.
