Gary Schultz

Gary Dean Schultz, 72, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on July 14, 2026.

Gary was born on November 3, 1953, in North Platte, Nebraska, to Floyd Schultz Sr. and Viola (Spidell) Schultz. He grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1972. In May of 1973, Gary began his career with the Union Pacific Railroad as a pipefitter's helper. Through hard work and dedication, he became a pipefitter and retired after more than 40 years of service.

Gary had a lifelong love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting and treasured the many hours spent outdoors with his buddies.

Gary's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his sons, Travis Jay Schultz and Trampus Dean Schultz, both of North Platte, Nebraska, and Jake Dayton Schultz of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his granddaughters, Jayna Schultz and Livia Schultz; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Lawrence Schultz Sr. and Viola Merlinn Schultz; his brother, Floyd Lawrence "Jay" Schultz; his sisters, Cynthia Damme and Mindy Sue (Schultz) Brown; and his granddaughter, Misty K. Schultz.

Gary will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and the time he spent with family and friends. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte. Odean Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
