Galen LaVerne Reed, 57, of North Platte, died at his home on January 1, 2018.
Galen was born April 18, 1960, in Winchester, KS, to Francis and Leola Reed. He grew up in Kansas and later moved to Colorado then Nebraska. Galen worked in maintenance at the University of Colorado in Boulder, drove trucks for farmers in western Nebraska then became an over-the-road truck driver. He retired from driving following a stroke.
Galen liked to play pool and was on a pool league. He also liked camping, fishing, NASCAR racing and grilling for his neighbors. Galen had a big heart and loved people.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis; his mother, Leola Baker; and brother, Frank.
Survivors include his daughter, Chelsea Reed; siblings, Bobby, Peggy, Robin and Dawn; special friend, Debra Huntington; stepdaughters, Sawsha (Wesley) Shackelford, Jennifer (Justin) Jeffries and Kaela (Bryon) Henry; nine step grandchildren, Kristian, Vincent, Kasson, Kailynn, Mazie, Maverick, Finn, Ashton and Braxton; and other family.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no service. Condolences may be shared online at odeanchapel.com. Arrangements are with Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore.
