Edwin Neil Scott, 65, of Wallace, NE, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE. Ed was born September 16, 1949, to Herbert Edwin and Lavina Ferne Christensen Scott at Bend, OR. He grew up and attended school in Wiggens, CO. After his schooling he joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and served in Vietnam. Following his discharge in 1972, Ed moved to Brule, NE where he worked for Carl and Alma Schulz Ranching and Feed Lot. Ed married Judy Schulz on August 16, 1970, and to this union their children, Neil and Stacey, were born. Ed and Judy later divorced. On February 1, 1980, Ed was united in marriage to Betty Lou Lindau McKenna at Sidney, NE where they made their home. Ed worked in Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas doing various farm and ranch work. Ed and Betty later owned and operated the Double E Bar at Wallace for 13 years from 1999 to 2012. Ed then worked part-time for area farmers and was President of the Wallace Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Wallace; his children, Neil (Angela) Scott, of Chicago, IL, and Stacey Scott, of Sidney, NE; stepson, Randy (Terry) Olsen, of Council Grove, KS; five grandchildren, Austin Scott, Conner Callahan, Samantha Scott, Kylie Scott and Madison Olsen; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Burrows; brothers and sisters, Jack Scott, Rich Scott, Mike Scott, Beverly James and Janet Rosenfield, and a sister-in-law, Linda Scott, all of Colorado; half-sister, Dorothy; his dog, Jett; and many nieces, nephews and other family. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ferne; two brothers, Wayne and Jerry Scott; and half-brother, Bob Scott. Cremation was chosen. Services will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Inurnment with military honors will be at 10 a.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Wallace with Pastor Harun Gatobu officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore or prior to the service at the church. Odean Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
