Doug Misegadis

D ouglas M isegadis of North Platte passed away at Tabatha House in Lincoln on November 3, 2023, following health complications.  He was 80 years old.

Doug, the son of Carl and Frances (Horacek) Misegadis, was born at Bison, Kansas, on June 12, 1943.  He grew up in Rush Center, Kansas where he graduated from Alexander High School in 1960.

Doug bought a trucking company and operated it for a few years until enlisting.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 and served in Vietnam.  On August 4, 1964, Doug married Marcia Meisenheimer at Albert, Kansas.  Since he was in the service, they started married life living in various places.

Following his discharge they relocated to McCook where Doug took a job with Stanley Steel Corp. then with Gibson Discount Center.  Gibson's sent Doug to different communities to manage their stores and he eventually became a supervisor and buyer for them.  In 1976 Doug's job brought the family to North Platte.

By 1977, Doug went back into business for himself and opened Aunt Chilota Mexican Restaurant, Sunrise Dairy and Lakeview Sports at the Outlet center.  In October 1986 Doug went to work for Cash-Wa and was there until retiring in 2020.

Doug was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Eagles, V.F.W. and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia; parents, Carl and Frances; and his sister, Linda Apodaca.

Doug is survived by his sons, Michael Misegadis (Megan) of Lincoln and Clifton Misegadis (Renee Beacom) of Omaha; grandchildren, twins Jack and Emma Misegadis, Whitney Lindsay (Tom), Tayler Lord (Daniel) and Paris Lord; 3 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Karla Solomon of Kansas, Karleen Freeman of New Mexico and Debra Bolt of Arkansas; as well as other family.

Cremation was chosen.   Services will be on Tuesday, November 14.  Committal service and inurnment with military honors will be 1 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.  Memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating.  The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Autism Society of Nebraska, PO Box 83559, Lincoln, NE 68501-3559.
