Dorothea Olive Murr was born In Elbert County, Colorado to Roy and Edna DeLair.
She passed away on August 15, 2025 at her daughter Linda Armstrong's home in North Platte, Nebraska, at the age of 100 years, one month, and two days. She was raised on a farm south of Kiowa, Colorado. She was the oldest of three girls and one boy. She attended a country school and then moved to Elizabeth, Colorado, where she worked at a local cafe for room and board through the 11th grade. She left school to return and help her parents and siblings at the farm.
She married William (Frank) Murr on February 10, 1944 in Colorado Springs. Together they raised three sons and one daughter on a dairy farm near Falcon, Colorado. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and being with family and friends. Not only was she an excellent seamstress; her homemade bread and cinnamon rolls were the best ever. She had a sound mind and an incredible ability to remember things and details, even until the very end. She will be remembered by all as a kind, generous, and loving person by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons Frank (Judy) Murr, David (Sarah Kay) Murr, Richard (Brenda) Murr; daughter Linda Armstrong; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mom said she lost count but would always ask about them.
Proceeding her in death were her parents Roy and Edna, husband Frank, step-brother Ross, brother Roy Jr., sisters Myrtle Krier and Mildred Worthey; son-in-laws Larry Temple, Jerre Cheyney, and Dick Armstrong; and innumerable relatives and friends. Dorothy was the oldest surviving Murr by several years. Anyone who was a part of her life will be honorary pall bearers.
Graveside services will be held at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Friday, September 19, at 10:00 AM.
Reverend Thomas Rizuto will be officiating.
