Don Keck

August 25, 1941 — January 28, 2025

D onald "Don" Keck, 83, of North Platte, NE, peacefully passed away at home on January 28, 2025.

Don was born August 25, 1941, in Colby, KS, to James and Vera Keck.  He graduated from Colby High School then attended Kansas State University where he received a degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.  After graduation, he moved to Denver, CO, where he began his career with the Big 8 accounting firm Arthur Young & Company.  In 1974, seeking a quieter life, Don relocated to North Platte where he became a partner in the CPA firm Hansen, Fuenning, Raetz, Erb, Roggow & Keck.  He later founded his own CPA firm Keck & Associates, LLC, and worked continuously up to the time of his passing.

Don was united in marriage to Darleen Davis in 1980, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and family.  Don was a proud father of four children, Jim, Melissa, Dara and Jon.  He was a devoted husband, father and granddad who cherished his family deeply.

Don's interests were as varied as they were genuine.  He was proud to be a Mason, enjoyed fishing, and cherished his trips to Deadwood, SD.  His face would light up whenever his grandchildren came to visit, and they adored the jokes and tricks he loved to show them.  Don was known for his warmth, his sense of humor, and his ability to make those around him feel special.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vera Keck; sisters, Joan Adrian and Joyce Kleinsorge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Darleen; his children, Jim (Lori) Keck, Melissa Keck, Dara (Josh) Cisneros and Jon (Evonne) Keck; 10 grandchildren, Gracie, Maddie, Brendan, Kamden, Jax, James, Lincoln, Everly, Maci and Quinn; and other family.

Per his request, there will not be a public celebration of his life.  In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Callahan Cancer Center in North Platte or the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in Omaha, NE.

Family will be greeting friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which  is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.

Don will be remembered for his strong character, his unwavering love for family, and the lasting legacy he leaves in his community and profession.  He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
