Deloris Othling

DeLoris Martha Othling, left this earth on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the age of 95, from the Sutherland Care Center. She went to meet her Lord after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

DeLoris was born March 31, 1922, to William and Wilhelmina Brettmann in Deshler, NE. DeLoris grew up on the farm south of town and attended school in Deshler and at a country school.

On October 9, 1949, DeLoris was united in marriage to William H. "Bill" Othling at Deshler and they had a daughter, Sharon, the following year. The family lived on a farm near Deshler then in '73 moved into town. DeLoris and Bill were married for 37 years when Bill went to be with his Lord in 1986.

DeLoris worked on the farm as a child and continued to do so with Bill after they married. She later went to work at the Park View Haven Retirement Home and retired from there after 30 years of service. She continued to live in her house in Deshler until moving to North Platte in 2006 to be closer to her daughter and grandsons. After nine years DeLoris moved to the Sutherland Retirement Home.

DeLoris enjoyed playing BINGO and quilting, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler.

She leaves behind her daughter, Sharon (Alfred) Redden, of North Platte; grandsons, Anthony (Julie) Redden, of Mitchell, SD, and Scott (Amy) Redden, of North Platte; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kaycee, of North Platte; two nieces, two nephews and other family.

Along with her husband, Bill, DeLoris was preceded in her union with the Lord by her parents, William and Wilhelmina Brettmann; and father and mother-in-law, William and Ida Othling.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Peace Luthern Cemetery, Deshler, NE, with Pastor Rich Stevenson officiating. The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Peace Lutheran Church. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
