David King Rice, Jr.

David King Rice, Jr., 54, of Brady, NE, died at the Denver Health Medical Center on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, after being struck by a motor vehicle in Brady. David was born February 11, 1961, to David King Rice, Sr. and Joyce Rice at Norfolk, MA. He grew up in Mirror Lake, Norfolk, MA. After his schooling, David worked construction in the New England area. In 1983 David married Lorain Thompson and they later divorced. He was later married to Theresa Rawding. In the summer of 2005, David and his family moved to Farnam, NE where he continued his work as a carpenter. David was a Christian man who enjoyed the outdoors and God's creations. He liked to write poetry and listen to music. David also enjoyed photography, art, wood working and electronics, and was willing to share his knowledge with family and friends. He is survived by his children, Jessica Rice (fiancé, Jeremy Woodward), Christian (Samantha) Rice, Lawrence Rice III (fiancée, Jenn Hatch) and their mother, Lorain Thompson Rice, all of Attleboro, MA; son, Joseph Rice, of Wareham, MA, and daughter, Angela Rice, and their mother, Theresa Rawding, both of Farnam, NE; sisters, Jullianne Able, of Pratt, KS, and Lea Albee, of Franklin, MA; brothers, Everett John Rice, of Pratt, KS, and Lawrence Dana Rice II, of Needham, MA; five grandchildren, Dylan Rice, Lawrence Rice IV, Kristian Simoneau, Gabriel Simoneau and Isaiah Woodward; his girlfriend, Diane Holbrook, of Wakeeney, KS; and many nieces, nephews and other family. David was preceded in death by his son, David King Rice III; and parents, Joyce and David, Sr. Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Greg Boller of the Lone Star Cowboy Church in Farnam officiating. David's cremains will be buried next to his son at the Farnam Cemetery. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial.
