Darrell Keeney

D arrell K eeney, age 66, of North Platte, Nebraska, died at Great Plains Health on December 18, 2021.

Darrell was born on August 18, 1955, in McCook. He grew up in North Platte and attended North Platte Public Schools then went to work for Shults Construction.

Darrell liked to fish, be outdoors, and was very artistic. He was also a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Keeney; birth parents, Doyle and Eunice Lawrey; and wives, Ruth and Cathy.

Darrell is survived by his mother, Dorothy Keeney, of North Platte; his son, Larry 'Derrick' Hovey (Helene Love), of Omaha; nephew, Jermaine Keeney (Trista), of Omaha; sisters, Michelle Keeney (Ken Bible), of North Platte, Evelyn Doyle (Mick), of Ogallala, Jenny Nightingale, of Ceresco and Jackie Sexson (Dennis), of Broomfield, CO; brothers, Gary Keeney (Amber Sherman), of North Platte, Billy Poppert, of Payson, AZ and Richard Hoskins, of Kissimmee, FL; his special friend, Denise Mousel, of North Platte; and other family and friends.

Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Harvest Christian Fellowship with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Plainview Cemetery.  The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service at the church. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
