Darlene Deibert

Darlene Deibert, of North Platte, peacefully passed away at the age of 88, on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at the North Platte Care Center.

Darlene was born June 6, 1930, to Vernon and Ethel Black at Fairbury, Nebraska. She grew up in Fairbury and graduated from Fairbury High School.

On March 25, 1950, Darlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Deibert in Hoxie, Kansas. They lived in various Kansas communities then moved to California for a while before returning to Kansas. After living in Goodland they moved to Colorado then Nebraska, living in Lexington before settling down in North Platte in 1970.

Darlene was a member of Valley Christian Church. She loved sewing and making quilts. She also enjoyed cooking and celebrating the holidays but most importantly, Darlene loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, and their children, Michael Dee Deibert and Patricia Klein; her parents, Vernon and Ethel Black; and brothers, Vernon Omar Black and Bill Black.

Darlene is survived by her children, Rebecca 'Becky' (Randy) Gilland and Kenneth, Jr. (Olga) Deibert, of North Platte, Danny (Linda) Heyer, of Arnaudville, Louisanna, and Dean (Theresa) Deibert, of Bostic, North Carolina; son-in-law, Milo (Sharon) Klein, of Gregory, South Dakota; sister, Clovella Randolph, of Hoxie, Kansas; special friends, Chris and Leasa Davis and Chris and Mitzy Hayes; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 8 great great- grandchildren; as well as other family.

In keeping with Darlene's wishes, cremation was chosen and a family graveside gathering will be later in April at Hoxie. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
