Dan Knuter

D an K nuter, age 68, of North Platte, NE, passed away February 24, 2023, at Great Plains Health.

Dan, fondly known as "Digger", was born to Dwaine Knuter and Frances Krause on March 19, 1954, in North Platte. After graduating from North Platte High School Dan worked for NPPD then did construction which eventually led him to California. He returned to North Platte in 1994.

Dan was married to Deb Gerrish, whom he had two children with, and later to Cheryl Walker.

He enjoyed using his carpentry talents to create bows, walking canes, chests and various things for the people he loved. Dan continued to be a great father and friend to many people throughout his life and loved making people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dwaine Knuter; mother and stepfather, Frances and Charles "Chuck" Edwards; and grandson, Christopher Schultz.

Dan is survived by his brother, Rick Edwards of North Platte; sister, Lynette Knuter of Colorado; his children, Amy Schultz of Omaha and Brian (Karla) Knuter of Costa Rica; grandchildren, Chelsea (Spencer) Hunt of Council Bluffs, IA, and Braden Knuter of Costa Rica; stepchildren, Bryon (Nicole) Mercer of Papillion and Kyle (Nellie) Mercer and Rebecca Baker of North Platte; step grandson, Damian Mercer of North Platte; former spouses, Deb Gerrish of Wahoo and Cheryl Walker of North Platte; his best friend, Tickles; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Cremation was chosen. Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2023, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Pastor Clint Walker officiating.
