Dale Hovey

D ale H ovey was born January 30, 1955, to Alberdale and Burnell Hovey.  He lived all his life in North Platte and peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on December 6, 2024, at age 69.

Over the years Dale worked at the rendering plant, Fairmont Dairy, Gillette Dairy then Masonite where he was a foreman.  He loved doing a lot of different things - camping, hunting, fishing for catfish (and won many catfish tournaments), playing pool and softball, country cruising, two stepping, and was always up for "Fam Jam" with his twin brothers and niece.  He was a member of the Eagles, collected guns, loved going to gun shows, and of course, was the #1 Husker fan. But best of all, Dale was a family man.

On November 14, 1974, Dale married Millie Williams and they raised three girls.  He later became grandpa to 12 grandkids and 5 great-grandkids.  He will always be remembered for his love of Christmas and being in the sun, and for being a wonderful dad and papa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; his parents; and sister, Linda Hovey.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Dalene Hovey of Forest City, IL, and Angie Fries (Richard) and Brandy Hovey (Josh Rosenberg Sr.) of North Platte; grandkids, Telsa, Sidney, Sadie, Rocky, Ashton, Fiona, Julissa, Dale, Elijah, Ethan, Austyn and Joshua Jr.; great-grandkids, Lawkryn, Knux, Rook, Brailynn and Brooklynn;  brothers, Larry Hovey of North Platte, Terry Hovey (Linda) of Plattsmouth and Gary Hovey (Carol) of North Platte; his special niece, Michelle Thomsen; and other family.

Services will be 2 p.m.,  Saturday, December 14, at Odean Colonial Chapel then burial to follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.  The casket will be closed.  The memorial book may be signed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be share at odeanchapel.com.
