Dale Douglas

D ale D ouglas of North Platte, NE, passed away at Great Plains Health on December 6, 2022, at the age of 91.

Dale was born July 12, 1931, at Ringgold to Ward and Nora (Scott) Douglas. He grew up in Logan County and attended school in Gandy and Stapleton.  In 1951 Dale enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and served for nearly six years, earning the rank of Airman Second Class.

On June 15, 1957, Dale married Carol Peck. They made their home in North Platte where they raised four children and shared 65 years of marriage.

Dale hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in May 1970 and worked there until retiring in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Nora; siblings, Norman and James Douglas, Eleanor Covey, Gladys Chambers and Esther Carlson; and great-grandson, Wyatt.

Dale is survived by his loving wife, Carol, and their children, Ruth (Gary) Stearns and Wayne (Kim) Douglas, all of North Platte, and Judy (Will) Welch and Karen (Gary 'Bo') Matthews of Paxton; grandchildren, Shawn (Kiley) Eastwood, Chelsea (Adam) Walz, Kassandra (Jesse) Bertholf, Sarah (Phillip) Paulsen, Kayla Douglas, Amber Christen, Shayle (Jeromy) Baker, Kolby Welch, Willie Welch, Audrea Welch and Emily Welch (Noel Hernandez); great-grandchildren, Johnathon and Thomas Eastwood, Adley and Baxter Walz, Levi and Cheyanne Bertholf, Clint and Kaitlyn Paulsen, Bailey, Hayden and Cordale Christen, Makenna and Owen Baker, and Alicia Hernandez-Welch; as well as many other family members.

In keeping with Dale's wishes, cremation was chosen. Service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.
