Carole Kay Mosteller, 86, of North Platte departed this life Friday, November 14, 2025 with her daughters, Cristi and Denise and grand-daughter, Jennifer, by her side.

Carole was born January 22, 1939 in Byers, Texas to Clarence and Frankie (Hames) Gibson. On August 2, 1959, she married Larry Thacker and to this union was born a daughter, Cristi Kay. Due to an unfortunate automobile accident, Larry passed away on July, 26, 1972. She later married Carl Mosteller on November 29, 1974 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Carl had 5 children and together they became a family of 8. After all the children grew up and left home, they built their dream house by Cripple Creek, Colorado and proceeded to live there for 30 years until moving to North Platte in 2009 to be closer to their 2 daughters, Cristi and Denise.

Carole was an artist who created many beautiful paintings. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting, and sharing her creativity with those she loved.

Carole is survived by two sons, Steve (Laura) Mosteller of Papillion, NE, and Randy Mosteller of Ft. Collins, CO; three daughters, Melanie (Scott) Trent of Bailey, CO, Cristi (Mike) Cumming of North Platte and Denise (Dennis) Sullivan of Gering, NE; grandchildren, Audy Newton, Jarot (Daelene) Newton, Jennifer (Josh) Cox, Andrea (Francis) Wilson, Mandi (Jason) McGregor, Katie (Stevie) Lovings; her great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Carole was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Thacker; her second husband, Carl Mosteller; her parents; her sister, Marie; and her daughter, Michele (Alan) Arnold.

Her family would like to thank Bridgestone Suites staff, Vel at Great Plains Health, the Hospice team, and the Accura Healthcare staff for the kind and compassionate care of their mother.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Odean Colonial Chapel with pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Private family inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at a later date.
