Carol Douglas

L ongtime North Platte resident, Carol Douglas passed away June 21, 2024, while staying at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. She was 86 years old.

Carol, the daughter of Carl and Ruth Peck, was born July 22, 1937, in North Platte where she grew up and attended school.

On June 15, 1957, Carol married Dale Douglas in North Platte.  She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to their 4 kids.  Carol and Dale were together for over 65 years when he passed away in 2022.

Carol loved being a wife, mother and grandma.  She also loved her flowers, crocheting and playing games with her grandkids, especially the game Trouble.

Along with her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill, Frank (Erla) and Don (Donna) Peck; and infant great-grandson, Wyatt Paulsen.

She is survived by her children, Wayne Douglas (Kim) and Ruth Stearns (Gary) of North Platte and Judy Welch (Will) and Karen Matthews (Bo) of Paxton; her sister-in-law, Vina Peck of North Platte; as well as 11 grandkids, 16 great-grandkids and other family.

Graveside service and inurnment will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 1, at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with Pastor Michael Evans officiating.  The memorial book may be signed online at odeanchapel.com or at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
