It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Ulysses Dobbins, who passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 40.

Brian was born on October 23, 1985, in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Throughout his life, he built lasting friendships and was known for his generous heart, and ability to bring people together.

Over the years, Brian worked in a variety of roles, with his longest careers at Premdor and the Walmart Distribution Center, where he spent many years.

Brian found peace in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, spending time in nature, listening to music, drawing, and gathering with family and friends whenever there was a reason to celebrate.

He was proud of his Native American heritage and valued the sense of identity and connection it brought him. He also believed in giving back, volunteering in his community whenever he could and finding joy in helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Adi Fernandez-Dobbins; their children, Romeo and Aviana Dobbins; and his children, Kevryck and Angelyn Dobbins, whose mother is Starlita Dobbins. He is also survived by his brothers, Draper Pracht, Charles Dobbins Jr., and Terry Dobbins; his brothers-in-law, Jose Fernandez with wife Mackenzie, and Johnny Fernandez; "little sister" Kelly Blacksmith; his lifelong best friend, David Barnhill, who had been by his side since preschool; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Angela Dobbins (Pracht), and his father, Charles "Chaz" Dobbins.

Brian lived with mental illness for many years, a struggle that is often unseen by those around us. On July 5, 2026, that illness claimed his life. His family shares this openly not because it defines who Brian was-in hopes that by speaking honestly, they can help reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide. If his story encourages even one person to ask for help, check on a loved one, or know they are not alone, then his life will continue making a difference.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 14, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel, 302 S. Sycamore St., North Platte, NE 69101. Followed by burial July 15, 2026 10:00 a.m. at Wounded Knee, Oglala Lakota County, South Dakota.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Brian's memory. Reach out to someone who may be struggling. Listen without judgment. Offer your time, your compassion, and your presence.

Brian's story was far greater than the circumstances of his death. He will be remembered through the love he had for his children, the friendships he cherished, the joy he found in bringing people together, and the memories he leaves with all who knew him.

Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Odean Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
