Barbara Titchen, 86, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Linden Court on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
Barbara was born August 7, 1932, to Paul and Martha Larson at Gothenburg, NE, where she grew up and attended school. Barbara worked for a while before marrying Mervin Wayne Titchen on November 21, 1952, in Gothenburg where they lived for a few years. They moved to North Platte in 1958 and owned the Standard Oil Station for 12 years and Titchen Towing Service for 27 years. Barbara worked as the bookkeeper for their businesses until her health failed.
She was member of the First Baptist Church, Social Order of Beauceant (S.O.O.B.) and Order of Eastern Star Signet Chapter 55 where she served as Worthy Matron in 1992. Barbara liked to do needlepoint, embroidery and crocheting. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were very special to her.
She is survived by her husband, Mervin, of North Platte; sons, Michael (Punky) Titchen, of North Platte and Tommy (Christine) Titchen, of Andover, MN; daughters, Kristie (Thomas) Vedder, of North Platte, Debbie (Norman) Hagler, of Alliance, NE, and Kellie (Rodger) Morash and Donna Post, of North Platte; daughter-in-law, Paula Titchen, of Longmont, CO; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sister, Annabelle Holmes, of Gothenburg; as well as several nieces, nephews and other family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her son, John Titchen; parents, Paul and Martha Larson; sister, Kathryne Aden; brothers, Raymond, Bernie and James Larson; grandchildren, Jessica Titchen and Steven Hagler; and great-granddaughter, Aqualina Davis.
Funeral Service with Eastern Star Rites will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.
