B arbara G arner of North Platte passed away at Bryan Health in Lincoln on April 19, 2023, at the age of 76.
Barbara was born in Kearney to Raymond and Ruth Dage on July 7, 1946. After graduating from Kearney High School, Barbara attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years then went to Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN diploma. Barbara had a long career in nursing which began at Good Samaritan Hospital.
On April 25, 1970, Barbara was united in marriage to William Garner in Kearney. They moved to Colorado in 1976 and lived in Golden and other places in the metro area. While in Colorado, Barbara worked at the Swedish Medical Center for most of her career. She was mainly in ER, but also worked in ICU, on the GI and Orthopedic Floors, and Oncology. She retired from the Arapahoe G.I. Clinic.
Barbara and Bill eventually moved to North Platte where they were members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Barbara enjoyed showing rottweilers at dog shows and loved being a nurse. She had great care and compassion for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond, Jr.; sister, Susan Dage-Ruby; and her good friends, Arlyn and Rosie Friesen.
Survivors include Barbara's husband, Bill, and their children, Carolyn Miley of Parker, CO, Chris (Courtney) Garner of Deer Trail, CO, and Michael (Tiffany) Garner of Denver; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Amber, Noah, Madeleine, Cortland and Kerigan; brothers-in-law, Ron (Phyllis) Garner and Stan (Jeanette) Garner; and other family and friends.
Cremation was chosen. A family celebration will be at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
