Arlene Laurinat

Arlene Kathryn Laurinat, 91, of North Platte, NE, passed away Friday, August 14, 2015, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Arlene was born August 8, 1924, to Reuben and Esther Anderson near Elm Creek, NE and grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Holdrege High School in 1941 then attended Grand Island Business College. Arlene later worked in Grand Island, NE for the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant in the Accounting Department. On August 12, 1947, Arlene was united in marriage to Edwin William Laurinat in Grand Island. They were married for 68 years and raised three children. Ed and Arlene lived in Lincoln, NE where Arlene worked for the State Employment Office in both Grand Island and Lincoln for several years. They returned to Grand Island in 1952 before moving to North Platte in 1957. Arlene was a member, Deacon and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. She was active in the church and served as secretary from 1976-77. She was also a member of P.E.O., the Extension Club for over 30 years and was on the Christian Education Committee. Arlene enjoyed traveling and had visited 49 states, China, Canada and Europe. She also liked quilting and any kind of needle work as well as cooking and baking. Arlene leaves behind her husband, Ed, of North Platte; their children, Mary Ann Laurinat, of Waltham, MA, Robert (Connie) Laurinat, of Portage, MI, and James Laurinat, of Martinez, GA; two grandchildren, Ahern (Elizabeth Guzy) Laurinat, of Seattle, WA, and Owen Laurinat, of Kalamazoo, MI; a niece and three nephews; and other family. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine and husband, Sam Crisman; her parents, Reuben and Esther Anderson; and a nephew. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 20th at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Condolences may also be shared at odeanchapel.com. A private family burial will be held in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Polly Deppen-Williams officiating. Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Alzheimer's Support Group or the First Presbyterian Church. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
